Join us on November 14th, 2024, at 4pm PST for our live interview with Jim Hough of Liberty Pole Spirits. Liberty Pole has been a prominent feature in discussions about alternative uses of peat due to their their peated rye and peated bourbon products, not to mention their homage to the classic Monongahela valley style of rye. Now, Liberty Pole is entering the American Single Malt space for the first time with a limited run of an American Single Malt Whiskey, and possibly more products to come in the future. We first saw the American Single Malt label via ComingWhiskey and reached out to Jim for an interview when he was ready to speak about this product. Today, we'll taste through this new ASMW product and discuss the rest of Liberty Pole's Portfolio, especially their ryes, as well as their use of peat in non-malt products. For more information about Liberty Pole, visit them at https://www.libertypolespirits.com/ and https://www.instagram.com/libertypolespirits/For additional show notes, see: https://demitastes.com/2024/11/14/ep-31-liberty-pole-with-jim-hough/---Our Single Malt Frontier x The Whiskey Lodge barrel pick of McCarthy's Oregon Single Malt Whiskey barrel pick is available for purchase at https://www.hrdspirits.com/mccarthys-rum-single-barrel. This week, we welcome back Amanda Beckwith from Virginia Distillery Co. With the recent release of a series of great valued American Single Malt Whiskeys in the VDC line, we absolutely had to bring this powerhouse of Virginia Single Malt Whiskey. We always love having repeat guests, and it's especially fun when they have a ton of new products to talk about!Since Amanda Beckwith's previous appearance on the show just 7 months ago, Virginia Distillery Co. has released no fewer than 4 new products. First we had the VDC series of cask-finished whiskeys (Cider, Chardonnay, and Port). And just last week, VDC released yet another addition to the VDC lineup: Blue Ridge. Aged in ex-bourbon, and finished in Virgin Toasted Oak from VA's Blue Ridge mountains, and coming in at a shockingly value-friendly $45, suffice to say we can't wait to try it live, and talk about all the latest from VDC. See you there!Additional show notes can be found at: https://demitastes.com/2024/09/19/ep-28-cask-collaborations-with-amanda-beckwith-virginia-distillery-co/---Join The Whiskey Lodge Discord: https://discord.gg/KQGkBmtzPTWrite to the TTB:It's been over 2 years since TTB published their proposal for American Single Malt Whiskey, and we're still waiting! This week we're joined by a panel of producers of Mesquite-Smoked Single Malts: Andalusia Whiskey, Santa Fe Spirits, and Whiskey Del Bac. Join us as we delve deep into this facet of American Single Malt Whiskey, arguably one of the most unique facets of the category in the broader world single malt conversation, and for certain, you can only find it here.We reached out to The Bourbon Van for a collaboration and asked what topic they wanted to cover on our show -- they came out strong with this absolute blast of an idea. Our three producer guests signed on for the conversation with only a few weeks notice. We've rarely seen a schedule of this many people come together so quickly. That speaks volumes to how exciting of a topic this is for everyone involved. We can't wait for you to hear what we have in store!More info and show notes will be added to the blog as available after the show: https://demitastes.com/2024/08/28/ep-26-mesquite-smoked-round-table-del-bac-santa-fe-and-andalusia-feat-the-bourbon-van/---Write to the TTB!It's been over 2 years since TTB published their proposal for American Single Malt Whiskey, and we're still waiting! Last week, you heard from the community voices who love and support ASMW. This week, join us for an interview with the President of the American Single Malt Whiskey Commission (ASMWC) himself. We'll hear from the man spearheading the organization of ASMW distillers and discuss the state of the ASMW rules, the commercial development of the category, the growing variety and interest in the category, and talk about the dangers of the industry continuing along without a formal regulation for or protection of the term "American Single Malt".It's been over 2 years since TTB published their proposal for American Single Malt Whiskey (ASMW) [1]. Since the comment period ended 2 months later, they've assured producers and consumers of ASMW that finalizing and ratifying these rules is a top priority for them, but with such a long delay, we need to do a bit of a media push and put a little pressure on them. Join us for a Round Table discussion between 4 whiskey industry insiders, content creators, enthusiasts, and fans of American Single Malt Whiskey (ASMW), as we break down the state of the landscape of ASMW.
